Struggling to keep your pet’s nails under control? You’re not alone. Overgrown nails are one of the most common welfare issues in pets, and many pets find trips to the vet or groomer stressful or overwhelming, especially when they’re already uncomfortable.
That’s where I come in.
I’m a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) offering mobile nail clipping for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small pets across Telford and the surrounding Shropshire villages, carried out in your own home, on your sofa, in your garden, wherever your pet feels most comfortable and relaxed.

Why choose a Vet Nurse for nail clipping?
There’s a big difference between a groomer cutting nails and a clinically trained RVN doing it. I know exactly where the quick sits in both pigmented and unpigmented nails, how to recognise when a nail is abnormal and how to handle anxious, elderly or difficult patients safely and calmly.
I also hold a Certificate in Feline Nursing, so cat owners can be particularly confident their pet is in experienced, knowledgeable hands.
If something doesn’t look right, I can tell you.
Nail Clipping
From £22

What’s included?
Every nail clip appointment includes:
- Clipping of all nails required (front and back, including all dew claws)
- A gentle paw and pad check
- Advice if I spot anything worth monitoring
- A calm and unhurried visit, no waiting rooms, no other animals, no stress
Who is this for?
My nail clipping home visits are ideal for:
- Anxious or nervous pets who find the vet or groomer overwhelming
- Elderly or arthritic pets who struggle with travel or being handled on a table
- Cats, as a certificate-holding feline nurse, I understand how cats communicate stress, what triggers them, and how to work with them rather than against them. Home visits remove the single biggest stressor for cats: leaving their territory
- Busy owners who want a convenient, professional service that comes to them
- Pets with dark nails where confidence and experience really matter
- Rabbits and small animals are often neglected when it comes to nail care, but overgrown nails in rabbits can cause serious posture and mobility problems.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often do dogs and cats need their nails clipped?
Some dogs need their nails clipped every 6-8 weeks, though it varies depending on their lifestyle and how fast their nails grow.
Cats who don’t use a scratching post regularly often need more frequent attention.
I can advise you on the right schedule for your individual pet.Is nail clipping painful?
When done correctly, no. The key is avoiding the quick, the blood vessel inside the nail. As a qualified and Registered Veterinary Nurse, I’m trained to do this safely, even in pets with dark nails where the quick isn’t visable.
My dog hates having his nails done, can you still help?
Quite possibly, yes. Anxious dogs often respond much better in their own home without the stress of travel and unfamiliar smells. I take a calm, patient approach and will never rush or force an animal. In some cases, I may recommend desensitisation over a few sessions.
What if a nail is broken or bleeding?
I’ll spot any nail problems during the appointment and advise you of the next steps. If a nail is already broken or infected before I arrive, please let me know in advance. I may recommend a vet appointment in that case.
Do you clip cats nails?
Yes, as a qualified Vet Nurse with a Certificate in Feline Nursing, I am trained specifically in cat behaviour and low stress handling techniques. I’m very comfortable with cats, including the less cooperative ones! Home visits work particularly well for cats who stress easily outside their territory.
Do you clip rabbit and small animal nails?
Yes, and this is something many groomers and mobile services don’t offer. Rabbits, guinea pigs and similar small animals need regular nail care just like cats and dogs. Overgrown nails can actually affect the way they walk and sit over time. I’m experienced in handling small animals calmly and safely, and a home visit means no stressful car journeys for them either.
